Counterfeit advice
Don't get sucked in
Just now, I saw an X thread from CDR Salamander
and, as usual, he has some interesting thoughts
Cigarettes, I knew. If states are going to tax it as they do, people will find lower-cost alternatives. Economics 100
But stores selling fake honey? 10% of our honey is fake?
I was wondering how some of the honey comes out so smooth.
Then it hit me, the signed autograph of Portland Trailblazer NBA star Deni Avdija never arrived when I just saw this in my email today from eBay, talk about coincidence:
And as I am thinking out my thoughts, I remember the funniest scam out there, and worse than honey.
Camel urine scam (seriously)
I don’t know what’s worse, that this is a dietary thing, or that someone could tell the difference in the taste.
And of course, since we are talking about scams and counterfeits…Rolex watches that are now not just sold on a street corner in NYC by Nigerians, but legitimately from the manufacturers in China
and allowed to be on the same Google search as Rolex?
(Come on, is Google in on this?)
I wish I could just take Dino Anthony | 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞 the #1 marketer on Substack and X, and a genuinely good guy
And write Replica | Art of Purpose?
Can I remake James Cameron’s epic and just label
Replica Avatar and make it with stuffed socks?
But you know it’s not the real thing.
In fact, the real thing isn’t that luxurious, as the Chinese make most of it, and the allure of making something for some other nation, then having a French dude slap on his label, and then selling it for 100,000% more than you may have once had, isn't what it once was.
WSJ is saying the same thing:
Why should the US succeed? Because the entire point and desire of the nation is to be authentic, not to be shoehorned into a label.
We are all Texans here.
So I’m sure you are asking how a lie can succeed?
Because a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.
I made the quote up, or was it Mark Twain?
When you come and visit this fine USA, you will see these words advertised.
Farmers market
Bespoke
100% Authentic
Artisanal
Small batch
At a certain point, we can’t stand the convenience if the jerk making money is rubbing it in our face.
Remember, or read up on it, the universe apparently is run by a black hole that's tiny, not big, and it sucks in everything around it
It’s not the size that counts, but how authentic it is
It is until it isn’t
Look at the President of the USA, who is anything but fake.
If the wealthy, and there will always be despite Marxists, on the most part want to separate themselves and elevate themselves, and if everyone is wearing Rolexes and Louis Vuitton, then they may go on to other areas of privilege.
I’m going to bet it’s the home and decor.
If you watch these crappy Zoom videos with billionaires, the backgrounds are bare, minimal, or like it’s in their closet (probably is).
Generations change, and looking like a chump is so last year.
If? When? Trump triumphs. You are looking at a well-dressed man, and normally, we emulate the successful.
So look to new trends that are actually
(acting your age, your status, etc)
So be early to the party and look at high-end furniture
The REAL BENEFIT of reading me, then having someone call you up, is that I don’t have to pitch sexy.
Sexy sells, talking about a furniture company that is dying? Malls and not Amazon may be a harder sell, but make a great investment.
(I shared with you the pet industry, car washes, and education → all doing well)
Take the time to look at this company with good insider ownership
Suggest reading it on good furniture and you’ll know what I’m talking about.
Make it a powerful weekend
Eric

I'd like to buy a Rolex but I'd rather buy time
