Do Images have value?
The markets say no, but what if they're wrong?
I just read as I was leaving work, but nope I had to write this to share with you this fine Saturday morning:
AI which is by leaps and bounds taking all the looted content of human civilization and organizing in a manner that common folk and business can make sense of it have tended NOT to honor any rights whatsoever.
But lately they are getting called out and sued over it.
So my question is do images have value?
Like this?
Do you see who it’s from? Shutterstock (bottom left). It owns this fine, unaltered image. So if I was going to use it professionally, probably have to pay for it.
When I went on YouTube to learn about the Treaty of Utrecht (1715) I saw this lazy AI video who didn’t even bother to remove the watermark of Getty Images.
When I went to Getty Images pricing plan:
That’s expensive.
Free stuff has a way of making us value quality.
So my idea for today is to consider if/when Getty Images and/or Shutterstock, after their called off merger, will get a bid.
They have operated this editorial images and stock images for quite sometime and unless everyone just tunes in to podcasts there may still be a need yet for their professional services.
Getty is a penny stock.
And Shutterstock is as well with a very questionable 16% dividend yield.
What are your thoughts? Have you ever had a need for their services?
Make it a pleasant Saturday.
Eric
