No Communism, No TSA Lines
When were Metal Detectors required in airports?
So I was asking myself a question as I saw all the lines at the airports.
(I’m sure you ask yourself these questions)
Who is to blame for putting metal detectors in the airports?
What year did it all begin?
I obviously thought terrorists, but PLO kind, and yet I was surprised to learn that was NOT the case.
From my research, the first walk-through metal detectors appeared in U.S. airports around 1972, following a wave of aircraft hijackings in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
The FAA mandated their use after hijackings became epidemic:
130 hijacking attempts on U.S. carriers between 1968 and 1972 alone.
Worldwide, there were 305 hijackings globally, with 46 people killed — 25 of them in 1972 alone.
So what it says to me is that we, as citizens, are a pretty patient lot and took about 4 years for things to get out of hand before demanding a change.
And who was behind most of these hijackings in the USA?
69% of the reported incidents were Communists looking for a 1 way ticket to Cuba
Motives within this bucket were mixed: most perpetrators could be classified as mentally ill, criminal types, or simply homesick Cubans.
Well over one-third of the hijackers were U.S. citizens, with the rest being Cuban exiles or other Latin Americans.
So when a “No Kings” demonstration pops up in your local city with Communist flags being waved, just realize these are some dudes you don’t want to be flying with.
Funny, how it relates to Cuba
As for driving, I have no problem, but not with Republicans like Tiger Woods.
There is a lot to unpack with just about everything in the news today, and the best is to really hammer home some basic questions and
grasp essential principles.
This is something we’ll be revisiting in my book club with Benjamin Graham smattered with some of my individual thoughts.
Though, it seems, I’m more popular when i reference the great men of history and finance.
Maybe I found a niche and an audience.
In the meantime, while I do that, I believe I’m going to share some signals and strategies I've observed, and if you like them or see good results, I'll automate them for you.
Have a great Sunday
Eric
