So many bubbles
Which one have you played with
One of the most innocent activities anyone can do and always leaves a fond memory is playing with bubbles with siblings and friends.
You see it in the air, dangling for a moment, touch it, try to make it larger than pop.
Since the 2008 market crash and money printing, the internet and group think has spread so many opportunities for youngsters over the years that it’s hard to keep track but the key meme is that
Anyone can do it.
Lets go through a list shall we in no logical order:
Sport Prediction Markets
Texas Hold-em
Crypto
Currency
Social Influencer
Movie made on the cheap
Real Estate flipping
NFT (Digital collectibles)
IPO compliance was too burdensome so SPACs
Options trading
Venture capital
AI developer
Meme stocks &
now Stocks generally
How has this worked out for you? For most that bought and held through it all, it probably did very well,
Because you weren’t playing with bubbles.
But most people dabble and just like to see something work out fleetingly and hopefully win a lottery.
Bubble and lottery mentality seem to go hand in hand for some odd reason. So when I hear a young twenty-something having dinner with his uncle who dominates the table with stock investing axioms, it might be a time to show caution.
All the other bubbles were for the youth, but now if the older generation is caught up in a euphoria - one can wonder.
The only advice I got from a truly successful investor was to start a family, invest in a family, then get involved in the stock market.
Maybe that’s why I’m different. I don’t know.
Have a great Thursday,
Eric
PS. I may have left out one or two markets in my list. What are they? Is there any hot areas I missed out on?
