There is no excuse for you
To not accomplish something, anything
Until I happened to discover Dilbert’s daily videos, I really never touched social media. I just like to pay for overpriced subscriptions, read all day with coffee, and talk with people. Now I had a virtual buddy.
Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert, vibed on politics but used it as a platform to create expectations of future events. This is something that I believe could be applied to business and investing, and he showed how it can be done from his vantage point, as long as you show up each day to do it.
Through thick or thin, literally. He went from prognosticator of politics to demonstrating how valuable life is every single day and what it takes to merely survive. He thought of us, the viewers, and while it helped him hang on longer, it will stay with us even longer, the effort he took. And his heroic turn at the end.
May your name be a blessing, Scott.
And then, when you think of the man Scott admires most, President Trump, who, at 80, is leading the country.
To get voted in, dodge a bullet, and lead the country as he sees it takes a lot of effort, especially when you are a polarizing figure and close to 80.
These role models have kept me working harder than I have in a long time to accomplish what I feel is important.
I even have a picture on my office wall of a Spartan, “If you’re tired, do it tired.”
And you know what?
My home life became stressful this holiday season. My wife and I were in a shouting match, my daughter didn’t talk to me for a few days, and my lower back made me stuck in bed and more acid reflux.
Customers and the team have appreciated the more energy that I have put into things while I have driven out many hanger ons who were not really interested in growing.
For me, my personal life is not negotiable so while I see wins. I also see irony in a “no excuse” motto.
When you change that does not mean the people around you will and you have to accept this but also communicate more effectively as I learned…
Don’t make your family feel left out.
And same with your body…there is a physical limit to what you can do.
No regrets.
And like a good AI model, life and growth is iterative
(I hope that $5 word was used correctly)
Happy Wednesday
Eric
PS. Did you see Silver hit $90? For $0 cost, but the time to read some of my thoughts, you were in very early on this move.
Yesterday, for $5, we mentioned that the stock market seems to want to sell off. And so it did.
What else do I need to do to get you to swipe that beautiful Visa?
Come over to the chat and see what’s cooking.
