Ever listen to a Toby Keith song? Is he angry about the girl who ignored him?

We always want that one to be angry with our success

And this brief missive will reframe your mind when success does arrive

But First…

Did you ever have someone you had a crush on who showed no interest in you turn out to be uber-sucessful, maybe not as like the ex-boyfriend of Taylor Swift but close…

It’s like someone won the lottery and it wasn’t you.

For me, that someone became an executive producer of the Ellen show

(You know the one that ran for 19 years)

while Im trying to get the next $5 subscriber?

Maybe maybe not

But at least I can now tell her,

“At least I didn’t work for a cannibal”

Greatest line ever.

So I needed a laugh because when you ride high, you will, with or without me, by making wild and crazy profits

Sometimes you double your luck and crap out.

Making money and keeping it is also a secret of success, so while I have

the Midas (Gold and Silver) touch

My Cocoa melted in my hand

(I should have just bought a pack of M&Ms)

But am I thinking correctly about this futures trade in Cocoa?

Let’s look at the chart of what I’m talking about

I’ve traded futures forever

back and forth, and the fees and time are not worth it

Picking stocks and holding them have always been my things

So why not with commodities?

99% of all books and traders won’t speak about this because it’s a long and tedious drawn-out process, and probably better to own SPY ETFs than anything

But the world is changing, so maybe what you invest in?

As Warren Buffett liked to mention about Kraft Heinz “I overpaid for it”

But I didn’t lose money.

That’s key in ANY walk of life, do you feel yourself a loser? Or just early?

Most traders you hear about, observe, or emulate make a lot of money fast, but they also lose it faster.

Then they have dry spells when they need to run a newsletter or a speaking tour until their next score.

And this works very well, like the biggest bet that won for a hedge fund this year, but would it have been better with longer, steadier returns?

My argument, and you will see it fleshed out over time is that CONSISTENCY and PATIENCE

Will overcome JUST ABOUT any strategy or investor/trader because we are mostly short-term in nature and don’t look at the big picture.

Most leveraged traders make and lose the money they gained because their frame of reference is the profits, not the process.

Process over Profits always wins.

Just today, the front page of the www.FT.com talked about how AI can create a strategy and portfolio for you.

So why compete where all the money, resources, and talented people are.

You are already making money and have an edge so why not have an edge to your speculation?

And that is TIME

Maybe you’ll see friends and foes score big and while we do not covet we do want our moment in the sun.

I feel that moment will come over time, especially when you need a little luck.

And all the while you won’t be stuck trying to parse inventory reports and what some Federal Reserve guy is saying.

Instead, you will enjoy the sunny day and see your daughter at 2am watching a movie, trying to calm down from jealousy of her older sister hanging out and having a good time with her friend.

I told her, “There’ll be plenty time for you”

So maybe youre like me

Or maybe you’re like my college crush chasing the allures of whims and of an erratic blonde talk show host

who eats babies and left the country to lay low

Someone will come out ahead

and I want to be the one that sings this song:
