You Got to Play the Game
My advice to my daughter...and you...and maybe myself
Ever feel tired?
Tired of playing the game?
Mel Brooks song in Blazing Saddles best describes the malaise.
At any rate…
My daughter is having issues with all the superficial girls at her school
but i told her the ones keeping it real are the ones with parents separated or divorced or in financial situations. The issue, Im trying to stress, is that you got to work with what you got, not with what you want.
And when it was July 4th and her friends were going out she was in her room, and that was not unacceptable. I said go out have fun and I was wrangled in driving her 1 hour a way in one traffic jam after another to get her to the social outing.
I too have to play the game of father. And that means driving and doing things I don’t want to do.
When you have done it all, or think that you have, it’s tough.
So my motivational hack today is be Young at Heart.
It’s funny how all those great rockers are truly geriatric now but if you give them a stage and a mic it’s as if they de-aged.
There is something we can learn from Rockers…
“You can go to extremes with impossible schemes
You can laugh when your dreams fall apart at the seams
And life gets more exciting with each passing day
And love is either in your heart, or on it’s way
Don’t you know that it’s worth every treasure on Earth
To be young at heart”
I enjoyed Bob Dylan’s version last night walking.
And the same goes with the market and in business, get your ass in gear and make a go of it.
Any hacks you are into?
Love to hear…
Make it a youthful day,
Eric
